Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias are debilitating, incurable diseases affecting 1 in 5 elderly people (10 million) in the United States. Current cognitive tests can be highly subjective and cannot predict the future course of the disease.
Ashish Raj, associate professor of neuroscience and computer science in radiology at Weill Cornell Medical College, discussed BrainWire - a diagnostic software tool for predicting the future progression of dementia. BrainWire uses computer algorithms and machine learning to produce risk assessments on likely disease patterns to provide the best anatomic targets for therapy.
Hors d'oeuvres and drinks were served.
